The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) banned Russian state-backed films in March 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine. Yet TIFF is now giving a world premiere to "Our Loves," an Israeli film produced with at least $148 million in funding from Israel's Ministry of Culture and Sport. This is a glaring double standard. Israel's actions in Gaza have killed over 73,000 Palestinians—far exceeding any threshold that justified the Russian film ban. Demand that TIFF either reinstate Russian films or extend the same suspension to Israeli state-backed films, starting with the immediate removal of "Our Loves" from the 2026 festival lineup.
