Shine a Light on FDD: Demand Media Transparency

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) presents itself as a "nonpartisan" think tank, but it was founded as EMET with the explicit mission to "enhance Israel's image in North America." FDD employs former Israeli military and intelligence officials, operates a registered lobbying arm (FDD Action), and receives millions from pro-Israel billionaires like Bernard Marcus and Sheldon Adelson. Yet major outlets—The New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, and CNN—routinely quote FDD experts without disclosing these ties. This campaign demands that news organizations adopt mandatory labeling standards requiring full disclosure of FDD's pro-Israel advocacy mission, lobbying activities, funding sources, and network of former Israeli officials whenever FDD personnel are cited.
